Financial Guidelines

Everyone’s financial situation is unique, so a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works. However, there are some general guidelines that can help you make informed decisions and track your progress toward your financial goals.

Before entering into any financial agreement, consider the following, and always read the entire contract carefully. Make sure all information is accurate and that you fully understand the terms. If any part of the contract is unclear or in a language you don’t understand, ask for an explanation in a language you are comfortable with.

Key Points to Check in a Loan Contract:

  • Loan amount and coverage: Is the amount correct? Does the cover or benefit meet your needs — or is it too little or too much?
  • Other charges: Do you understand what additional fees may apply?
  • Interest rate: Do you know how the interest is calculated?
  • Repayment terms: When and how will the loan be repaid?
  • Penalties: Are there late fees or other penalties you should be aware of?

Remember, once a contract is signed, it is difficult to make changes. Your signature confirms that you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the agreement. Always take the time to read and ask questions before signing.
